Service of process is the legal procedure for giving notice to a party who is required to give an answer in court to a judicial action. Process servers in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court are required to submit an application for a permit.
New Process Server Applicant
The Ninth Circuit accepts new applications quarterly. Anyone wishing to become a process server may apply the first week of December, March, June and September.
The following documentation is needed to become a process server:
- Initial Certified Process Server Application
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Application fee of $300 via personal check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to the “State of Florida.”
- Background check from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website at www.fdle.state.fl.us.
- Passing examination grade of 80% or better. Please note that the Ninth Circuit Court does not give the process server examination.
- A bond in the amount of $5,000.00 with a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Florida.
Renewal Process Server Applicant
The following documentation is needed to renew your badge:
- Certified Process Server Application
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Application fee of $250 via personal check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to the “State of Florida.”
- Background check from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website at www.fdle.state.fl.us.
- Passing examination grade of 80% or better. Please note that the Ninth Circuit Court does not give the process server examination.
- A bond in the amount of $5,000.00 with a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Florida
