Service of process is the legal procedure for giving notice to a party who is required to give an answer in court to a judicial action. Process servers in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court are required to submit an application for a permit.

New Process Server Applicant

The Ninth Circuit accepts new applications quarterly. Anyone wishing to become a process server may apply the first week of December, March, June and September.

The following documentation is needed to become a process server:

  1. Initial Certified Process Server Application
  2. Certificate of Good Conduct
  3. Application fee of $300 via personal check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to the “State of Florida.”
  4. Background check from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website at www.fdle.state.fl.us.
  5. Passing examination grade of 80% or better. Please note that the Ninth Circuit Court does not give the process server examination.
  6. A bond in the amount of $5,000.00 with a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Florida.
Renewal Process Server Applicant

The following documentation is needed to renew your badge:

  1. Certified Process Server Application
  2. Certificate of Good Conduct
  3. Application fee of $250 via personal check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to the “State of Florida.”
  4. Background check from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website at www.fdle.state.fl.us.
  5. Passing examination grade of 80% or better. Please note that the Ninth Circuit Court does not give the process server examination.
  6. A bond in the amount of $5,000.00 with a surety company authorized to do business in the state of Florida
