Veterans Court Recognizes Recent Graduates

Orlando, FL – On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room of the Orange County Courthouse, the Honorable Tina Caraballo will officially recognize a group of 10 veterans who have successfully completed the Veterans Court program. Judge Caraballo , a 10-year United States Army veteran, was elected to the Orange County bench in November of 2014.

Veterans Court holds weekly hearings in Courtroom 7B of the Orange County Courthouse. During these hearings, which begin at 1:30 p.m., Judge Caraballo meets with the veterans and monitors their progress. Currently, there are 110 active participants in the program with charges ranging from felonies to misdemeanors and traffic cases.

In only its second year, the Orange County Veterans Court program has proven to be incredibly successful. Since its inception, there have been 84 graduates of the program. Tomorrow’s graduates will bolster the success rate of the program, which aims at curbing the recidivism rate for participating veterans and restores them to a more productive life.
