On Friday, April 13, 2018, the Florida Court Public Information Officers (FCPIO) honored the Ninth Judicial Circuit with an Excellence in Communications award for our three-part podcast, "The Shooter, The Victims, The Aftermath," which highlighted the events surrounding the 1984 Orange County Courthouse shooting. The series comprised 3 of nearly 50 episodes of the Circuit’s podcast, Open Ninth, launched in August of 2016 as part of a multi-tiered communication plan.

Open Ninth serves as an educational tool for citizens of Orange and Osceola counties by disclosing the inner workings of the judicial system and by providing a behind-the-scenes look at our judges and staff. Fulfilling multiple goals in the Supreme Court’s Communication Plan, Open Ninth is one of the Circuit's most effective educational tools. We look forward to future episodes where we can continue to reach our community with valuable information.
