Judge Laurent Recognized as a 2021 Latino Distinguished Leader

Portada Latina Magazine recently recognized one of our own here in the Ninth Circuit, the Honorable Gisela T. Laurent, as a 2021 Latino Distinguished Leader.

In honor of their sixth anniversary, Portada Latina selected individuals they feel make a positive difference in the Hispanic community. Judge Laurent always seeks to serve her community in a field where they are vastly underrepresented. Her work as a bilingual attorney helped her clients have a clear understanding of the court system and the implications of their cases. And her current service as a circuit judge ensures everyone who steps into her courtroom receives the fair and accessible justice they deserve.

Judge Laurent received this recognition for her courtesy, integrity, and professionalism in both her previous work as an attorney and her current service here on the bench. And as the first female Hispanic to be elected to the Orange County Court, and the first to be appointed by a Governor to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, Judge Laurent continues to show the passion and strong work ethic she credits to her Hispanic heritage. She makes strides every day to pave the way for Hispanic women after her, earning her the role of a distinguished leader in the eyes of her community.

Congratulations, Judge Laurent!
