On Thursday, November 3, we hosted our fourth annual Exhibit A: Family Court Art Challenge ceremony, celebrating the creativity of young artists in Orange County Public Schools.
Each year, we ask students to produce a piece of artwork that represents a chosen theme. This year’s theme was what freedom means to me. Our panel of judges - Judges Bob Egan, Alicia Latimore, and Heather Higbee, Mayor Jerry Demings, and Chair of the Orange County School Board Theresa Jacobs - viewed and evaluated each piece before selecting the artwork best representing the year’s theme. Artwork was judged in four categories: kindergarten - second grade, third - fifth grade, middle school, and high school. Awards were given to five winners in each category: first, second, and third place, as well as two honorable mentions.
You can view the winning artwork, as well as all of the other amazing pieces, on display at the Thomas S. Kirk Juvenile Justice Center.
