Position description

The Court Program Specialist I position is primarily responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Teen Court diversion program. This position supports the Teen Court Coordinator and Asst. Coordinator to provide alternative services to juvenile offenders. Responsibilities include conducting intake conferences, in accordance with approved screening tools, assigning sanctions to youthful offenders and monitoring their compliance. Other duties include making program referrals, preparing reports and a variety of other administrative duties that require coordination with various individuals and agencies. This position requires the ability to conduct urine analysis screenings.  It may require minimal local travel. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the use of databased programs and Microsoft applications, such as Excel and Publisher is preferred. The Court Program Specialist I position has a flexible work schedule, which includes two evenings per week.  Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a highly preferred skill for this position.

Strong interpersonal skills needed in working with youth, their parents, volunteers, court professionals and the public. A basic knowledge of the juvenile justice system and experience conducting intake conferences is preferred. Proficiency in any of the following database programs is a plus: Clerk’s Odyssey program, DJJ Prevention Database, and any Ninth Circuit diversion program database.

A Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, pre-law or a closely social science related field and two years of professional administrative related experience preferred. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of preferred experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the preferred educational level on a year-for-year basis.

This position will be located at the Juvenile Justice Center, 2000 East Michigan Street, Orlando, Florida. Orange County Funded position.
