Court Program Specialist I - Domestic Violence

Position description

The Court Program Specialist I (CPS I) in the Domestic Violence Division provides case management support and direct assistance to the judiciary. This position is responsible for preparing temporary and final injunction orders based on the Court’s rulings. Additional responsibilities include preparing weekly dockets and calendars for injunction return hearings, assisting in the preparation of case files, attending judicial hearings, and gathering information pertinent to injunction orders, including criminal background checks.  (This role does not provide counseling, social work services, or advocacy.)

The CPS I must exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and always handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, possesses strong written and oral communication skills, and is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Supreme Court-approved forms pertaining to Domestic, Repeat, Stalking, Sexual, and Dating Violence injunctions is highly preferred. Customer service experience is beneficial due to the face‑to‑face interaction required during the check‑in process for court hearings.

The preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or judicial administration, business, education, social work, criminal justice, law (paralegal), or related social science. Progressively responsible experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for the required education.

This is an Orange County funded position with full benefits. The CPS I report to the Domestic Violence Unit Supervisor.
