Position description
The Court Operations Manager-Family Court position is responsible for assisting the Director of Family Court Services in the organization, development and implementation of Family Court Services and Programs in Orange County. This position is responsible for monitoring the performance of Family Court Programs and Services to assure compliance with statutes, laws and established court policy and procedures. A person in this position must be capable of evaluating process and analyzing data in order to develop and implement new or improved work flows and processes for a variety of Family Court Programs. They must also be capable of researching matters concerning family law activities, including gathering, compiling, analyzing data to determine the effectiveness of family court activities. Working knowledge of family court, including familiarity with family court forms, the injunctions for protection process and court ordered visitations is essential.
A person in this position will develop program descriptions, position descriptions, program forms and instructions, videos, brochures, operations manuals, training manuals and other materials to assist employees and the public.
Effective communications are essential to this position and requires establishing and maintaining effective liaison with the Judiciary, Court Administration, Clerk of Court, and other Court partners.
This position provides supervision and management oversight of court support staff by assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance appraisals and recommending and arranging training. This position also conducts personnel management functions, including interviews, selection, counseling, discipline, performance evaluations and staff meetings.
Educational guidelines are a Bachelor’s degree in business management, judicial or public administration, criminology, or closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended education level on a year-for-year basis.
Experience guidelines are five years of related professional work experience, including two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, and a working knowledge of the legal system, family court procedures and legal terminology. A Master’s degree in an area cited above may substitute for two years of recommended non-management experience. A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school may substitute for three years of the recommended non-management experience.
