Position description

The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court seeks to fill a full-time Child Support Hearing Officer position to be assigned to Orange County/Osceola County with an anticipated start date of September 3, 2024. This is a professional position that carries a high degree of responsibility. The position will perform quasi-judicial work related to child support enforcement matters. This position conducts hearings in Title IV-D child support establishments, modifications, contempt, and enforcement cases. Work involves considerable interpretation and judgment in the analysis of legal issues related to child support cases. This is a high-volume division of the court. Candidates must be very proficient using computers, Microsoft Word and able to generate recommended orders. Most hearings are held in person, although virtual hearings are also held. Attention to detail is important. This position is required to report monthly statistics, meet court performance standards, and perform administrative duties directly related to the activities of a hearing officer. 

The core functions of this position include: (1) Conduct Title IV-D Child Support matters and interpret and make judgments on support issues; (2) Conduct legal research; and (3) Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualified applicants must be a member in good standing in The Florida Bar for at least five years immediately preceding employment. The applicant must be proficient in Word and must be able to personally prepare his/her own documents.  The applicant must have excellent computer skills, including the ability to conduct hearings virtually through WebEx.
