Position description

The Ninth Judicial Circuit has an opening for a Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer Assistant, reporting to the Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer. This position requires a self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail, the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner, and the discretion to maintain the confidentiality and sensitivity of matters before the Hearing Officer.

The successful candidate must be able to ensure that all individuals are treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect while providing equal access to the Court through detailed administrative work. The Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer Assistant performs a variety of secretarial, administrative, and clerical duties in support of the Hearing Officer's daily office operations.

This role involves working with judges, judicial assistants, non-judicial officers, court personnel, and the general public. The Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer Assistant works independently and exercises discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information related to court cases.

Duties include: Answering telephone calls and assisting callers; directing callers to other departments as appropriate; drafting, typing, and emailing daily dockets; drafting and processing recommended orders; preparing and processing final orders for the presiding judge; maintaining the Hearing Officer's calendar and scheduling hearings as appropriate

Education:
High school diploma or GED required, plus two years of college or vocational education in paralegal studies, secretarial skills, computer operations, or a related field. Legal experience is preferred but not required. An associate degree and/or one year of experience in business administration, paralegal work, or secretarial roles is also preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. 

Keyboard testing will be administered as part of the interview process.
