Position description
The Ninth Circuit seeks an Administrative Secretary to provide secretarial and clerical support to Family Court programs in Court Administration. The position is responsible for composing, editing, and distributing court-related correspondence, court orders, pleadings, memoranda, reports, e-mails, and other documents while maintaining confidentiality; screening telephone calls and litigants' web inquiries; providing information; resolving issues; and directing callers/visitors to the proper personnel or agency or taking messages. The position also supports general case management and special projects, as well as the check-in process for court hearing litigants at the front desk. The selected candidate will report directly to the Unified Family Court Coordinator.
Must have excellent organizational and computer skills and the ability to work independently. Must develop proficiency in using a variety of computer programs, including case management and e-filing systems. The ideal candidate will interact professionally, maintain effective working relationships, and communicate clearly both orally and in writing, using proper spelling, grammar, and punctuality. Knowledge of trial courts and applicable rules and procedures is beneficial.
High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by three years of experience in clerical/secretarial support functions; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Work is performed in person, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
