We are proud to share that Matt Benefiel, our trial court administrator of 30 years has been inducted into the National Center for State Courts’ (NCSC) Warren E. Burger Society.

Named after the former U.S. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, the Burger Society honors individuals who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to improving the administration of justice through significant contributions of their time, talent, and support of NCSC.

Matt has served as one of only three trial court administrators in our circuit’s history, and the longest-serving TCA for good reason. Throughout his career at the Ninth, he has fostered a culture of innovation, stability, and excellence. His leadership has strengthened court operations and kept the Ninth at the forefront of technology. Matt has also served the larger court community as a member of the NCSC Board of Directors and has been involved in several professional organizations including the National Association for Court Management, National Association of Presiding Judges & Court Executive Officers, and the Mid-Atlantic Association for Court Management.

This recognition is a well-deserved reflection of the impact Matt has made on our courts and our community. Congratulations, Matt!
