We are proud to announce that the Ninth’s own, Judge Tina Caraballo, received the Chief Justice Award for Judicial Excellence.

Established in 2015, the Chief Justice Award serves as an annual recognition of one county court judge and one circuit judge who demonstrates exceptional commitment to the judicial branch. The judges chosen for this honor embody qualities of integrity, fairness, professionalism, compassion, and decisiveness. And we here at the Ninth Circuit know that there is no better example of these qualities than Judge Caraballo.

When facing the demanding role of a county judge in a large county, Judge Caraballo tackles her challenges head-on with enthusiasm. She finds the perfect balance of efficiency and thoughtfulness despite a packed calendar, so anyone who appears before her leaves the courtroom knowing they were heard.

And over the years, Judge Carballo has gone above and beyond the duties of her position to improve our judicial branch. She has taken on the additional responsibilities of numerous leadership roles, including her current assignment as administrative judge of the county court in Orange County. Since assuming this role, she has significantly reduced our backlog of cases by revising operational procedures for small claims pretrial conferences and restructuring county court assignments.

It is a fact that Judge Caraballo holds an exceptional commitment to the judicial branch. She proves it through her work every day. We are excited to see her honored for her dedication to this circuit, and the legal community overall.
