Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed one of the Ninth's own to the Sixth District Court of Appeal: Judge Paetra Brownlee.
Judge Brownlee received her bachelor's degree from Emory University and her juris doctor from Florida State University College of Law. Prior to becoming a judge, she served as a partner at The Brownlee Law Firm, P.A. And since 2020, she has served as a circuit judge here in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. Her appointment fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Jay Cohen from the Sixth District Court of Appeal.
