Position description

The Ninth Circuit seeks a qualified professional for the position of Trial Court Technology Officer to oversee and manage all IT and A/V functions in one of the nation’s most progressive trial court systems.  This position will lead a staff of 22 in supporting over 400 users at 7 court facilities across two Central Florida counties.  The role will serve as senior level management, overseeing a budget of over $2M, while working directly with the Trial Court Administrator and Chief Judge on technology objectives that will support and advance the circuit’s strategic planning, long-term policies and court goals & objectives.  Additionally, the selected candidate will serve on statewide and national committees to represent the Ninth Circuit’s technology advancements and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of proven success as an IT or A/V professional to include two or more years of experience as a supervisor or administrator.  Experience at the director or officer level is a plus.  Applicants considered for the position will have a firm knowledge of network systems, videoconferencing technology, user support functions, systems security and database management.  Applicants will also be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively work with service providers, vendors and high level public officials in presenting and defending technology based solutions.

The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems management, business administration, business management or a related field.  Seven years of related work experience to include two years of successful supervisory or management experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level and additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis. 

This is a state funded exempt position with full benefits, headquartered at the Orange County Courthouse.  The job is 40 hours per week on-site with some options for limited telework.
