The Assistant Teen Court Coordinator for Osceola County assists in the daily operation of the Teen Court diversion program, and this position is responsible for providing support to ensure that all aspects of the program are handled consistently and proficiently. Work includes exercising discretion in dealing with confidential juvenile cases, as well as supervision over juvenile offenders in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the Teen Court Coordinator in daily administrative functions of the program; case management functions, such as entering new referrals, monitoring case progress, preparing cases for Teen Court sessions, attending Teen Court sessions, and meeting with youth and their families; performing a variety of support functions, such as data entry, typing, processing data, documentation verification, and reports and recommendations; generates various correspondence, memos, orders, reports, forms, manuals or other relevant materials appropriate to the assigned department; develops and generates material for speaking engagements and official correspondence; maintains a wide variety of detailed legal records and reports, collects and prepares various statistical information, case narratives, field case notes, and affidavits; performs a variety of critical record keeping duties, including volunteer community service hours; receives telephone inquiries and concerns, ascertaining the nature of the call, and resolving personally, or directing it to the appropriate individual or department; and performs duties as assigned by the Coordinator or Court Operations Manager.
Candidate must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Teen Court case management and rehabilitation principles, practices, procedures and systems. Knowledge of court and case management procedures and terminology. Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and ordinances, as well as available community resources and social services. Ability to prioritize work, organize, and make sound judgments in offender supervision, as well as work independently. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. A High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by four (4) years responsible experience in a Teen Court program, social service program, or Court related program; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
This position will be located at the Osceola County Courthouse, 2 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, Florida.
