Civil Circuit Courts
The Circuit Courts in Florida are the trial courts of general jurisdiction. The Circuit Civil Courts have jurisdiction in all actions of law in which the matter or controversy exceeds $15,000 and appeals from the County Courts. The Ninth Circuit Civil Division has seven (7) Circuit Judges in Orange County and one (1) Circuit Judge in Osceola County.
Civil County Courts
The County Courts in Florida are the trial courts of limited jurisdiction. The County Courts have general jurisdiction over actions of law in which the matter or controversy does not exceed $15,000, small claims (i.e., matters or controversy under $5,000), and most landlord/tenant actions. The Ninth Circuit County Civil Division has four (4) County Judges in Orange County and one (1) County Judge in Osceola County.
