Osceola County Courthouse
History
During the past fifteen years, the population in Osceola County has over tripled to approximately 207,000. The exploding population growth and parallel growth in demand for court-related services had strained the court facilities pass the point of capacity, until completion of the new courthouse. The new courthouse will serve the citizens of Osceola County well into the 21st Century.
Design
The new facility houses the Courts, Court Administration, the Clerk of Court, the State Attorney, the Public Defender, and ancillary services of the Sheriff. The design includes the following:
- 250,000 square feet
- Six main floors
- Twelve courtrooms
- Eleven judicial chambers
- One video courtroom
- Five hearing rooms
The project also included the restoration of the historic Osceola County Courthouse. The building retains its civic presence and will remain as an icon for County government.
