Teen Court Coordinator

The Osceola County Teen Court Coordinator position coordinates the Teen Court diversion program in a supervisory capacity. The position oversees all aspects of the program to include coordination of program activities; trial scheduling; processing of referrals and waivers; initializing direct contact with defendants and parents; coordination with outside agencies/departments; data acquisition and reporting; and supervision, recruitment and training of staff and volunteers. All supervision of juvenile offenders is within strict compliance of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to conduct thorough background checks; facilitate acquisition of participation agreements, waivers of speedy trial, and liability waivers with clients; communicate effectively with staff and participants, perform critical record keeping duties; and analyze data and processes to make effective changes within the program.
The preferred candidate will have expert knowledge in diversion services for juvenile offenders or juvenile law enforcement, including knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and ordinances. Expert knowledge of court and case management procedures and terminology. Knowledge of available community resources and social service resources. Ability to prioritize work, organize, and make sound judgements in offender supervision both in the office and at court, as well as skill in program planning and management. Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing and give presentations. Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and communications with juveniles, social service agencies, co-workers, department management, members of the judiciary, and the general public. Candidate must be proficient in use of Microsoft and database applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, or a related field, supplemented by two (2) years of experience in program administration, program evaluation, or in state or local programs for children and youth, diversion services for juvenile offenders, or juvenile law enforcement; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience. This position will be located at the Osceola County Courthouse, 2 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, Florida. Osceola County funded position with benefits.
